Families and younger players welcome

Junior table tennis in Maitland

Younger players are welcome at Maitland Social Table Tennis Club's regular sessions at Pat Hughes Community Hall in Thornton. We are a social club, and juniors play alongside adults in the same relaxed sessions. If you are thinking of bringing a child along, it is worth calling Simon first to make sure the session is a good fit.

How juniors fit in at our sessions

Our club runs mixed sessions where players of all ages share the same hall and tables. There is no dedicated junior program, but younger players who enjoy a relaxed game often do well here. Friendly regulars will make sure they get a game and feel welcome.

The sessions have a low-key atmosphere, which can suit kids and teenagers who want to play without the pressure of a competitive environment. Parents are welcome to stay and watch or even join in.

  • Juniors and families welcome at all three sessions
  • Plays alongside adults in a mixed, social setting
  • Bats provided, nothing to bring for a first visit
  • No booking needed

Before you bring a younger player

Because we are a social club rather than a junior sports program, it is a good idea to give Simon a call on 0404 282 131 before you come along. He can let you know which session tends to work best for younger players and answer any questions you have.

Sessions cost $5 each. The $27 annual Table Tennis NSW membership applies to everyone who plays regularly, including juniors.

When and where sessions run

We play at Pat Hughes Community Hall, Taylor Avenue, Thornton NSW 2322. Monday and Wednesday sessions are 12:30pm to 2:30pm, and Friday evenings run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Friday evening is often a good starting point. Street parking is available on and around Taylor Avenue.
