Maitland Social Table Tennis Club runs weekly sessions at Pat Hughes Community Hall in Thornton, and it is a straightforward drive from Rutherford. We are a relaxed, volunteer-run club. Turn up, pick up a bat, and get a game.

What to expect at the club

This is a social club in the truest sense. There are no competitions to enter, no skill requirements to meet, and no pressure to attend every week. Players of all ages come along, from absolute beginners to people who have been playing for decades, and everyone fits in.

Bats are provided so you do not need to own any gear. Wear something comfortable and bring a water bottle and you are set.

When and where we meet

We play at Pat Hughes Community Hall, Taylor Avenue, Thornton NSW 2322. From Rutherford it is a convenient drive with street parking available on and around Taylor Avenue.

Monday and Wednesday sessions run from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The Friday evening session runs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and is popular with players trying the club for the first time.

Cost and how it works

Sessions are $5 each, pay as you go. There is a $27 annual Table Tennis NSW membership, which is the only ongoing cost once you decide you want to keep coming.

You can try a session first to see how you like it. There is no obligation to commit.

Do I need to call ahead before coming for the first time?

No booking needed. Just turn up to any session and someone will get you started. The Friday evening session is a good one for first timers.

Is it suitable if I have never played table tennis before?

Absolutely. Plenty of our members started with little or no experience. It is a social club, so you play at whatever pace suits you.
